Fees Not Included in Tuition:
Laundry: A charge of 40 Euros that will be collected from each camper the very first day of camp. This charge will cover for 2 weekly loads for 3 weeks duration of camp. All garments must carry clear personal identification. This service is optional. Campers might use a laundry shop that is next to hotel. Campers that choose to use this service will be responsible of their own clothes and pick up.
Deposit fee: This is a residence fee of 30 Euros that the University requires from each camper at the beginning of camp. This money will be returned to the camper the last day of camp. Provided that there is no pending bill from the camper with respect to phone calls made directly from the room, beverages or food ordered from bar or mini-bar, no physical damages to residence furniture (broken windows, chairs etc..)
Additional Food or beverages: Tuition includes 3 meals daily. Any other food or beverages will have to be bought by camper at his/her own expense. Meal times in Spain are different and our experience tells us that the majority of our campers have a hard time getting used to Spanish meals hours. We will allocate time for our campers to go supervised to nearby supermarket store to buy food and beverages around noon time once or twice a week. Campers should budget themselves for this contingency if they feel needed.
Room telephone calls: Are not included in the tuition fee. This service is extremely costly and we recommend not to be used by any of our campers. Parents can call between 11:00 to 11:30 pm everyday. Calls after this time won’t be allowed. Students may use a public phone at the lobby, their own cell phone or a pre-paid telephone card for more inexpensive deals.
Other charges: Ticket Entrances to local museums (10 Euros), amusement parks (15 euros approx.) and special birthday parties (10 Euros includes soda, pizza, cake and entrance fee to disco/cultural center) are not included in the tuition fee. Campers will have to bring cash for these events and money will be collected by Edukick Madrid personnel during the duration of the program.

EduKick Madrid Historic &
Cultural Information:
The capital of Spain,
located in the heart of the peninsula and right in the center of the Castilian plain 646 meters above sea level, has a
population of well over three million. A cosmopolitan city, a business center, headquarters for the Public Administration,
Government, Spanish Parliament and the home of the Spanish Royal Family, Madrid also plays a major role in both the banking and industrial sectors. Most of
its industry is located in the Southern fringe of the city, where important textile, food and metal working factories are
clustered. Madrid is characterized by intense cultural and artistic activity and a very lively nightlife.
The grand metropolis
of Madrid can trace its origins to the times of Arab Emir Mohamed I (852-886), who ordered the construction of a fortress
on the left bank of the Manzanares river. Later it became the subject of a dispute between the Christians and Arabs until
it was conquered by Alonso VI in the 11th century. At the end of the 17th century, a defensive wall was built for the
protection of the new outlying areas, tracing the roads of Segovia, Toledo and Valencia. During the 18th century, under the
reign of Carlos III, were designed the great arteries of the city, such as the Paseo las Acacias and the Paseo
del Prado. EduKick youth will visit the world famous Prado Museum together as a team.
At the beginning of the
19th century, Joseph Bonaparte undertook the reform of the Puerta del Sol
and vicinity. The commercial street known as the Gran Via was built as an east-west avenue at the start of the
century. In the 1950's the north-south boulevard called El Paseo de la Castellana was extended and modern buildings
were erected, housing the major financial institutions. Remains of the distant past are mainly the Baroque and neoclassical
structures of the 17th and 18th centuries, such as the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), and the Palacio Real (Royal Palace). EduKick youth will tour each of the above mentioned
historical sites.
Cultural excursions are planned to visit the historical towns of Toledo and Segovia.
The first-time visitor to Toledo cannot help but be struck by the city
as a whole, impregnated as it is with such a weight of history and wealth of culture. The town, perched on a hill skirted
by a sharp bend in the River Tagus, has remained almost unaltered since the end of the Middle Ages, surrounded by curtain
walls and formed by a winding maze of alleyways and lanes that meander up and down, crisscrossing and revealing to our
EduKick team its historical sights and secret corners.
See TOLEDO, through the eyes of our EduKick Madrid players:
Originally founded by the Celts, Segovia was an important
Roman settlement before its later domination by the Visigoths and Moors. After it fell to the Christians in the 11th
century it became one of the most illustrious cities in the whole of the Iberian Peninsula. The Romans left a spectacular
legacy in the awe-inspiring aqueduct which is the tallest in Spain and one of the best-preserved in the world. The
sheer scale of this magnificent feat of engineering suggests that the Segovia of 2,000 years ago must have had more or less
the same number of inhabitants as it does today (around 50,000). The Romans came here in 80 BC and it's believed the
Emperor Trajan, one of the Spanish rulers of the mighty Roman Empire, ordered the construction of the aqueduct towards the
end of the first century AD. The Romans were the master plumbers of ancient times and no expense was spared in constructing
this elaborate structure designed to bring water to the city from a mountain river 14 kilometers to the east. They created
the aqueduct out of no less than 20,400 free-standing stone blocks and not a drop of mortar was used to hold them together.
The aqueduct has withstood hurricanes and earthquakes and continued to bring water to the city until 1950. Today it's all
that's left of the town the Romans called "Segobriga".
