Futsal Brazil Overview:
EduKick is extremely excited to introduce for the first time the summer camp of a lifetime for aficionados of Futsal (five-a-side soccer, no walls), the only indoor sport sanctioned by FIFA, the world governing body of soccer! The "EduKick Futsal Brazil" - Portuguese Language & Brazilian Culture Futsal Program is being hosted by the futsal experts at Miral Sports Promotions (MSP).

In August of 2007 EduKick offers youth Futsal players an exceptional language & culture Futsal camp in São Paulo; the world’s third largest city and the largest in South America.

Participating youth train daily with Brazilian Futsal National Team and São Paulo Select Team veterans: Miral, Banzé and Batata. In addition to having had extensive careers as professional players on leading club teams, all three are certified Futsal instructors and teach Futsal sports theory as part of a collegiate physical education curriculum.

São Paulo and its rival Brazilian city Rio de Janeiro have often been compared to New York and Los Angeles respectively. If Rio has gained fame for its striking natural setting, Sao Paulo’s attraction lies in its people and its vibrant cultures.

A more cosmopolitan city than its counterpart, São Paulo possesses significant ethnic communities, including substantial Japanese, Italian, and Arab and Lebanese Christian neighborhoods. Its museums are among the finest in South America, its surrounding coastline is graced with many lovely beaches and its selection of entertainment options is unparalleled in the southern hemisphere.

Program Highlights: Daily Futsal training and Portuguese language instruction will take place at the Complexo Esportivo Maria Imaculada , São Paulo’s top private high school which boasts a recently completed state-of-the-art sports complex.

EduKick youth will stay at the Comfort Hotel Vila Mariana near the Avenida Paulista The Financial District of the City and close distance to Ibirapuera Park The hotel features a swimming pool, internet access and cable/satellite t.v.. and is a 10 minute metro ride from training and language classes.

Several cultural tours of São Paulo are planned such as a visit to Ibirapuera Park where the Planetarium and Aeronautical Museum (where a replica of the 14 BIS, the world’s first plane to take flight) are located as well as the Museum of Modern Art and various historic monuments (for additional information click on (http://www.prodam.sp.gov.br/ibira/fotos.htm).

EduKick athletes will visit the Morumbi Stadium , home to São Paulo F.C. soccer club and one of the largest privately owned stadiums in the world, and attend a Brazilian professional league game. Our athletes will attend a professional futsal practice run by São Paulo F.C., the current state champion. EduKick athletes will also attend an official Brazilian Championship Futsal match. Riviera de Sao Lourenco
For a change of scenery, EduKick will travel to the coast to spend a weekend in the towns of Bertioga and Santos. Youth will stay and continue it’s Futsal training at Centro Esportivo e Cultural do SESC in Bertioga directly across from the ocean and will visit various beaches such as the beautiful Riviera de São Lourenço. Youth will tour the town of Santos and its cultural sites and will also visit the Vila Belmiro Stadiumwhere the legendary Pele played for Santos F.C. throughout his career.

“EduKick Futsal Brazil” professional Futsal school affiliate, Miral Sports Promotions (MSP) will provide the best in technical training and skill development, tactics, motion offense, defensive schemes, set plays and game situations.

About the Futsal Director:
EduKick Futsal Program Director, Mario Salinas (pictured below as USFF National Champion; second from left, bottom row & also above at the Pacific Cup in Mexico; bottom row, second from right, next to the great Brazilian Futsal veteran, Vava) was one of the founding U.S. Futsal players when the United States Futsal Federation (USFF) was incorporated back in 1983. He played on the U.S. Select Team in the first International Futsal match held in the United States in December 1985 at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California defeating Australia, 9-5. He earned 23 caps in his career on the United States Futsal National Team and played in the 1988 World Futsal Championships in Australia.

Mr. Salinas played semi-professional soccer in the San Francisco Bay Area in California throughout the late 80s and early 90s. He began his overseas career playing Futsal in 1988 where he was hosted in Brazil by Bradesco Futsal Club in Rio de Janeiro (the reigning world club champion and top Futsal club in Brazil at the time) as the club’s first international guest player. In 1990, he played for Marabe Futsal Club (Madrid, Spain) in Spain’s first division futsal league known today as the top professional futsal league in the world.

Salinas has competed in 15 of the 18 U.S. Mens Futsal National Championships having won 11 times as a player and 3 times as team manager and coach. Today, he is Director and Coach of World United Mens Futsal team which recently won the U.S. Futsal Nationals in Anaheim, California in July 2003. Salinas also competed in the World Futsal Club Championships in Spain (1994) and Brazil (1997) and has traveled to Mexico (1989, 1993) and Russia (2001) as a player with the U.S. National Team and U.S. Select Team.

Mr. Salinas works as an international publishing executive with CMP Media LLC is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese and resides in the San Francisco, California. He played Division 1 college soccer at St. Mary’s College of California on an athletic scholarship while earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1986. While playing in Spain, Salinas taught English to Spanish youth and to Spanish business executives. He has also consulted and worked with MrCampus, a Portuguese language online destination for international exchange and foreign language students in Brazil.

•	Daily Futsal training by professional coaches from MSP for a minimum of two hours daily. Ratio of one (1) coach per 15 youth
•	Guest visits and training from professional Futsal players players from club teams Corinthians, Palmeiras or São Paulo F.C. and Brazilian National Team players/td>
•	Evening training sessions: EduKick inter- squad scrimmages every other day
•	Daily bus/van transport or bus pass to all sports training, matches, and social activities
•	Guided tour of São Paulo (Municipal Theater, Flea Market) and & “Welcoming” presentation on the second day of camp
•	Daily Portuguese language lessons (M-F - 2 hours per session) & all language materials
•	Language lessons taught by two (2) native, qualified, experienced, and licensed teachers (EduKick requires that the teachers follow a progressive and organized curriculum)
•	Two (2) social activities per week with local youth from São Paulo and Bertioga (i.e. disco, BBQ, etc.)
•	Organized “Intercambio” with local Brazilian youth & Edukick youth
•	Arrange a minimum of two (2) organized ‘friendly matches” against local Brazilian youth club teams. (Referees, uniforms, locker rooms, etc.)
•	Residential lodging, shared, double room
•	Separate residential housing for female EduKick participants
•	Full Board (3 meals daily) for participating youth
•	At least two (2) adult, professional monitors to supervise youth overnight at residential housing complex
•	Use of sports facilities (soccer field, tennis courts, locker rooms, etc.)
