Our year-long program schedule at CEPE, with its rich variety of courses available, enables students to select a program of Spanish language study that comes closest to their personal needs and desires.

Student athletes receive "home stay" room & board at the private residence of the EduKick Mexico Director, Mr. Armando Cosilion (pictured above on left with EduKick V.P., Joey Bilotta). Center of Foreign Students in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, is a veritable paradise on the Pacific coast. Tucked into a niche in the West Sierra Madre mountain range, it can be reached in 30 minutes from Guadalajara by air or in four hours by road.

It is a city of contrasts, where natural beauty blends with modern tourist development. Although it has luxury hotels and innumerable services for tourists, it is still pleasant to stroll down its cobbled streets and enjoy the charm of an old-style country town.

Since 1994, CEPE Vallarta has responded to the demand of tourists, residents and university students who wish to learn Spanish in a tropical environment. Since 2007, CEPE Vallarta joins EduKick, Inc. in welcoming soccer players from around the world to attend our unigue Spanish & Soccer program in Puerto Vallarta.

Learning is based on the Communicative Approach, without losing sight of the need for grammatical accuracy. Spanish language courses are taught in Spanish and are designed to help students acquire fluency and sufficient communicative skills to cope with any situation that they are likely to encounter. The size of our groups is no bigger than 15 students. This enables us to give a more personalized attention, according to the specific needs of each student, and to encourage more interaction in the classroom. On arrival, students are tested for both written and spoken competence. On the basis of this placement test, they are assigned to the most appropriate level for their own benefit. The CEPE operates ten levels of Spanish instruction, which are in turn divided into three areas:

Spanish for beginners:
Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. The program for beginners focuses primarily on verbal expression, vocabulary expansion and listening skills. This approach is supplemented by work on reading texts for information, writing and basic grammar. We recommend that students follow between four to six hours of this course on a daily basis. Beginners can also enroll in supplementary courses Conversation I and Mexican Culture, the latter being the only content course taught in English.

Intermediate Spanish:
Levels 5, 6, 7 and 8. The focus in these programs is on developing the grammatical competence needed to maintain both informal conversation and more formal communication, as well as developing sufficient vocabulary for reading and writing purposes. Students who on placement testing demonstrate sufficient competence to study at Level 7 and beyond may also enroll in a variety of supplementary content courses.

Advanced Spanish:
Levels 9 and 10. Advanced classes concentrate on total mastery of the language, including reading excerpts from literature, the writing of essays and enhancement of oral expression. Advanced students can enroll in any supplementary or content courses, according to their needs.

Medical Service:
Students will enjoy of free medical consultation in the event of an accident or illness. CEPE will pay for the physician's fees, but be ready to cover for medication, lab test and related costs.

Friendship Program:
This program can enable foreign students to get to know Mexican students so as to practice Spanish and participate in cultural exchange.

Transfer Credits:

Transfer Credits is the process of receiving academic credit for courses taken at CEPE's so that it can typically be counted towards your degree or graduation requirements. Your academic advisor at your home institution will make the final determination of how many credits may transfer and how the credits will count towards your graduation, elective major/minor requierements. For this reason, we recommend that you begin the Transfer Credits process as soon as you decide to study abroad, by seeking pre-approval for your courses from your home institution. If you have any difficulty with the course approval process, contact EduKick staff, and we will be happy to contact your study abroad advisor at your home institution in order to facilitate the process, sending syllabus of CEPE programs etc.

How Do I Start the Tranfer Credit Process:
There are three important TIPS to successfully obtaining Transfer Credit through your home institution:

1. Obtain written pre-approval of the Spanish levels as well as Content courses and Supplementary courses offered at CEPE (EduKick Mexico)
2. Achieve good marks in your classes while studying at CEPE (EduKick Mexico)
3. Confirm with EduKick the mailing address of your home institution for your transcripts to be sent.

EduKick Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Historic & Cultural Information: The program is based in the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta, which lies on Bahia Banderas, the second largest natural bay in North America and has over 100 miles of coast line, it is a haven for anyone who enjoys any type of beach activity, from whale watching to parasailing. Bungee jumping over the Pacific, windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing or fishing are yours for the asking. The surf, at most beaches is normally very calm and safe for swimming year around.

Distinctly different beach zones with more than forty individual beaches mark Puerto Vallarta as one of the favorite destinations for the true beach lover. The first zone is north of Puerto Vallarta. Playa de Oro and the Marina district are here. The Playa de Oro is a wide, sandy beach with a few rocky areas interspersed. It is also very popular with guests and locals alike, because of its water sports. Even further north, the beaches of Banderas Bay are pristine and quiet as they reach up toward Punta de Mita. If you're into surfing, these northern beaches, which are subject to strong surf, perfect for catching a wave, the best windsurfing also takes place in this area.

Puerto Vallarta's most popular beach, Playa de los Muertos, is located just south of the malecon and the River Cuale. This beach is surrounded by the neighborhood of Olas Altas (Old Town or Zona Romantica), with it's indescribable variety of restaurants and shops. It is lined with beachfront hotels and restaurants and is usually bustling with activity, sun worshipers by day, the dining and nightlife crowd after dark. The beachfront bars and restaurants in this area are a great place to catch one of the incredible Vallarta sunsets.

South of town, you'll find numerous small coves and beaches. Playa de Mismaloya used to be a quiet, fairly remote cove, it is still fairly remote and remains a beautiful beach in spite of development and is a great place to relax on the beach for a day. Boca de Tomatlan, the last beach that is accessible by road is more primitive with several small seafood restaurants and taco stands. It is a great swimming beach, very quite and peaceful.

"EduKick Vallarta "Eco-Cultural" excursions will take participating youth to the ocean and the jungle!
