Q: Why travel to train at soccer & study
languages with EduKick?
EduKick Inc. is the world’s best option for high-level soccer boarding
schools and summer travel soccer camps that combine professional soccer
training with language & culture immersion in order to maximize the young
player’s experience abroad.
Q: What payment options do I have?
EduKick Inc. accepts bank drafts/cashier checks, certified checks, bank wire
funds and major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover
and Diner's Club)
Payments must be made in full prior to the arrival of the student in the
foreign country.
Q: Does the price include airfare?
No, it does not. However, with most EduKick camps you do have the option of
using our EduKick “official” travel agency to purchase your airline tickets
and travel with our adult supervisor from our gate cities at no extra cost.
The chaperoned group seats are limited in numbers (usually 20) and offered
to clients on a first come first serve basis.
Q: Are Visas required?
It depends on what your country of origin is and what your destination is.
It is the student’s responsibility to acquire all necessary documentation
and permissions to enter the country of their choice. Please contact your
local embassy for information regarding visas.
Q: Is travel insurance provided?
Travel insurance is included for all 2 and 3 week summer camps.
Q: Can students from outside North
America attend the camps?
Yes! All camps are open to all players within the specific camp age ranges.
Please note that acquiring a visa for each country is at the sole
responsibility of the players and their guardians.
Q: Are there any camps outside of the
summer months?
Yes, some camps can be joined during any month and others can be completely
customized to your needs and time constraints.
The ‘Year-Long’ programs start in September and finish in June of the
following year.
Q: What level of soccer and language do
students need to attend the soccer program?
No specific level is required, however, most players are serious soccer
players that play in school and also club/travel soccer. Many players are
“beginners” in the language study and still others may study that particular
language in High School and use EduKick as a supplement. For the Grifo
Master and the Spain ‘Year-Long’ programs and the Spain Elite Program,
players must qualify by sending in a current soccer résumé.
Soccer: Most athletes play in school and on a travel or club team. Some
players are recreational players but the majority will be quite serious
players attempting to play in college (or even professionally one day)!
Language: Many of our students are beginners and some have at least a year
or two of experience in the language. We administer a language level test
the first day of class and then place students into the appropriate class
level.
Q: Are there any AP prep courses
available?
Yes, currently Spain is the first country we are offering a Spanish AP Prep
course but we are working to add more AP Prep courses in other countries in
the coming seasons.
Q: How much money will students need?
Incidental spending money for calling cards/telephone cars, coin operated
laundry, souvenirs, gifts, shopping, etc. is recommended. A combination of
foreign cash plus, traveler’s cheques or bank card (with a 4 digit PIN)
would be ideal.
Q: Can students fly direct to the
country or do they have to travel as a group from the departure city (New
York)?
The majority of the camps have an adult monitor that travels with the group
from New York at no extra cost. However, athletes have the option of booking
their flights independently also. If traveling alone they must arrive into
the same destination airport and must coincide their arrival times with the
arrival of the main group. Many of the parents/guardians drive the students
to the airport in the gateway city, which allows parents to meet the EduKick
adult monitor. The students that fly with the group will be supervised by
the bilingual EduKick Adult Monitor, who travels with the group to the
foreign country for continual supervision and service.
Q:Will someone pick them up from the
airports?
Yes, EduKick representatives meet athletes at their gate as they arrive in
the destination city. For players flying directly to our camps abroad,
EduKick secures a copy of the player’s flight itinerary and also digital
photos in order to forward to our foreign directors and adult monitors that
are meeting them at the baggage claim exit in the foreign county’s airport.
Q: How many students are allowed in the
camp?
Our maximum group size is 40 players; the minimum group size is 15.
Q: What is the minimum age to attend the
soccer program?
For most of the camps, students must be aged between 11 and 18 years of age
but we have other camps that can accommodate students as young as 8 years of
age. We also offer University level programs for students up to 23 years of
age. Please view the program's specific webpage for more information or call
for clarification.
Q: What is the average age of students
attending the camps?
Between 14 – 16 years of age. For the ‘Year-long’ programs, students will be
between 16-23 years of age.
Q: How many girls attend your soccer
camps?
Our camps are becoming more popular with girls each year, currently 20-40%
of the group will be girls.
Q: Do the students train together?
Yes, our EduKick team will train together but will be split up as
appropriate for certain drills based on gender and/or ages. “Friendly”
matches are scheduled depending on the actual demographics of the group.
Q: Do students receive a certificate at
the end of the program?
Yes, a certificate of completion signed by the foreign coaches and EduKick
Director.
Q: When staying in the hotel
accommodation, can students leave the premises alone?
No. Designated “free time” is limited. For the most part, players are not
allowed to do anything unsupervised or without the group. For athletes in a
‘Year-Long’ program - parents can sign a waiver allowing for more "free
time".
Q: Can a roommate be requested?}
Yes, we will do our best to accommodate any roommate requests.
Q: How are the students supervised when
they are not on the fields?
EduKick provides bilingual adult monitors who provide 24 hour service to the
students. The staff at the camps will eat with the students and will also be
sleeping in the same premises. In the event of any issue or problem, the
monitors will be there to help immediately.
Q: Do you provide any pre-departure
information?
Yes, all students receive a comprehensive pre-departure information package
before departing for the program and students for most programs will have a
telephone interview approximately 3 weeks before the program start date with
either the camp director or an adult monitor.
Q: Do the boys and girls room together?
They will stay in the same building but on different floors. Boys are not
allowed to enter the girl’s rooms and vice versa. Edukick strictly enforces
this rule and campers that violate this rule will be immediately expelled
form the program.
Q: Is travel insurance provided?
Travel insurance is included for all two (2) and three (3) week summer
camps.
