EduKick and Leixões SC have teamed up with CLIP (an English Language Instruction Private High School) to provide the world`s first academic year football boarding school in Portugal!
The program is open to competitive international soccer players from 12 to 17 years of age that want to learn Portuguese, train daily under a first division professional European club and continue their academic studies in English for an entire academic year (nine months). A University - Portuguese Study Only - option is available for players from 16-24 years of age. Inquire also about our HALF YEAR OPTIONS beginning in January and ending in June (six months) available in both the High School (English Instruction) and Univeristy (Portuguese Language Study) programs .

EduKick Portugal - Leixões SC "Year-Long" Academic Boarding School players (both University & High School) will enjoy full room & board in "home stay" with families of children also enrolled in CLIP (our affiliated High School) or pre-selected families associated with Leixões SC (for University age players).
ACADEMIC/LANGUAGE PROGRAM
Each morning (Monday-Friday), EduKick High School student-players will attend our affiliated private High School called CLIP. The High School boarders follow the CLIP Academic Curriculum and all instruction at our affiliated private school is delivered in English.
The older (16 years and above) "University Level" players will study Portuguese Language & Culture only with accredited Native Portuguese teachers in a private affiliated language academy. Groups will be reduced in size, 12-15 students per teacher maximum for more concentrated study and attention to our EduKick student-athletes.
Students study 15 hours per week (including 1 hour per day of homework completion). The intensive Portuguese course is designed to achieve a sound level of communicative ability in the language, with an emphasis on spoken Portuguese. Classes cover all aspects of learning the Portuguese language (oral and written communication, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation). Our intensive course is ideal for our year long students who want to experience total immersion in the Portuguese language. Students will have to complete homework assignments for a minimum of 60 minutes in duration Monday to Friday to allow for a very successful learning progress.
Our intensive full immersion language program consists of 24/7 exposure to the key aspects of communication: to understand and speak the target language. Students are assigned with local futbol teams to interact with and solve communicative situations in Portuguese successfully. A social and cultural program of culrtural excursions and chaperoned group activities has been designed to take place during the semester to enhance language acquisition progress.
Soccer training sessions are held in the mornings (for University and Monthly players), afternoons (High School Session), and some evenings (with local Portuguese club teams). Participating players will compete on the weekends playing in "friendly" matches when possible.
Students receive full “immersion” in Portuguese and learn how to live and socialize successfully in this foreign culture. Players meet regularly with our bilingual tutors and our educational director to assist them with homework, prepare for exams, and act as a mentor for the EduKick Portugal boarders while they are with us abroad.

THE SOCCER PROGRAM
A “ciclos” approach to the technical, tactical, physical and mental elements of training enables the EDUKICK SOCCER BOARDING SCHOOL PROGRAM to produce skilled, motivated, athletic players who thrive in the competitive arena.
The advantages of the “ciclos” approach are:

The EduKick Portugal Leixoes SC International Soccer Boarding School Program recognizes that individual player development cannot exist separately from the team environment. Therefore, in order to allow our players to practice, play and improve at their position within a team environment, EduKick Portugal works together with Leixoes SC & several local Portuguese youth teams to provide competition experience for its students.(There may be visa restriction EC laws that will impede US students playing in actual Portuguese Leagues).
At EduKick we know a long-term commitment to training and development is required to produce highly skilled and conditioned, mentally and tactically advanced soccer players.
In that regard, EduKick has created a specific and well planned training regime that will ensure optimum football development to our players throughout the year abroad with our program. Also, we carefully monitor and control the stress recovery cycle that leads to over training, major injuries and burnout. Ultimately, success in soccer comes from training hard and performing well over the long-term rather than the short-term. There is no short cut to success in athletic preparation. Rushing your training will always result in shortcomings in physical, technical, tactical and mental abilities.
Below is an example of the EduKick Portugal International Soccer Boarding School Program -- full-time annual plan.
Technical Precision Phase
Objective: Improve the technical building blocks of soccer
Develop proper technique and good technical habits through frequent repetition. Drills are precise with low intensity.
Increase the range and repertoire of a player's available techniques. Practices focus on "weakness correction", identifying weaknesses in a player's game or skills and working in a systematic way to improve. Sessions are normally 2.5 hours (high volume).
Mental Conditioning: Review responsibilities and decision making, introduce peak performance journals and gain understanding of the coach-player relationship.
Introduction to linear movement skills, physical development training and improved aerobic endurance.
Tactical Phase
Objective: Fine-tune the student for competition
Individual:
Practical applications of the principles of attack and defense that govern the game of soccer.
Improve and promote decision making. Develop complete understanding of technical/tactical functions for each position.
Group:
Develop an understanding of the functional lines of the team Defense, Midfield, Flanks, etc.
Training is designed to simulate match conditions and maximize adaptations.
Mental Conditioning: Discuss fitting into the team concept. Understanding individual roles and responsibilities.
Enhance efficiency of movement skills, multi-directional speed and physical development.

The individual Portuguese Soccer Training Program is a unique program where players will have the opportunity to train with Portuguese professional coaches for 30 days. Players will be training, scrimmaging, and playing with the top youth players of the same age. This program will provide top quality coaching, intensive full time training, quality accommodations and cultural experiences in order to maximize a players experience abroad.
This "Month-Long" EduKick Portugal - Leixoes SC Football Training program is designed for players who are looking to train under Portuguese professional coaches for an extended period of time in order to develop their soccer skills considerably and distinguish themselves as "footballers". The EduKick Portugal - Leixoes SC Monthly Development Program is available throughout the year.
