With the realization that there will be a lengthy recovery period, and the educational options for those in the areas affected by the storm will be limited, study abroad providers around the country are extending deadlines and offering financial support to those affected students.
Providers have reached out to staff overseas to provide alternatives to these students for the fall and spring terms. These overseas programs provide options for students of all

levels throughout the world. Additionally, many programs do not have foreign

prerequisites, making study abroad an even more viable option for displaced students.
In an effort to make this process as simple as possible, providers have arranged for several creative finance methods to extend to those in need of assistance. Many providers are also offering grants to affected students to help defray program costs.
For those who are interested, Cultural Experiences Abroad (CEA), a study abroad provider found online at www.GoWithCEA.com, is providing a $1000 grant to students affected by Hurricane Katrina. Several Fall CEA program deadlines have been extended through the end of September for these students. Scholarship and program deadlines for spring terms are in October. Contact a CEA study abroad advisor today for additional information at 1-800-266-4441. CEA programs are open to U.S. and Canadian college students.
