District, announces that she has agreed to accept the sum of $300,000 to resolve her claim against the School District.
The lawsuit was filed against the School District in Los Angeles Superior Court for negligent supervision (Case Number LC068716, filed in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, Van Nuys District).
The lawsuit against the school district alleged that the principals at Agoura High School and other administrators from the Las Virgenes Unified School negligently supervised the campus and failed to take appropriate measures to protect their child who was harassed and repeatedly sexually assaulted by another student at Agoura High School.
A similar lawsuit related to sexual harassment and bullying was filed against the Las Virgenes School District and settled less than 18 months ago. A document provided to Mrs. Baker by Las Virgenes School District Deputy Superintendent Donald Zimring reports 55 incidents of complaints involving harassment on the Agoura High School campus in less than two years.
Mrs. Baker believes the Las Virgenes School District, and in particular, Agoura High School, continues to improperly address and investigate student and parent complaints that involve bullying, peer-on-peer harassment, sexual harassment, and assault. She has requested the district form a specific committee comprised not only of teachers and administrators, but also of parents and students to address the matter. To date, no specific committee that allows the input from students and parents has been formed by the School District.
