Peter Wolff of Nationwide is First to Receive Financial Services Specialist (FSS) Designation

(PRWEB) May 11, 2006 -- The American College is proud to announce that Peter Wolff, LUTCF, of Middletown, Delaware is the first individual to complete The American College’s Financial Services Specialist (FSS) designation program. The FSS program requires professional financial advisors to complete three core and three elective courses in fundamental sales training and financial product knowledge. Wolff is currently a high-impact sales specialist and an LUTCF with Nationwide. Nationwide is one of the largest insurance and financial companies in the world and has been providing the public with their expert services for over 80 years.

“  The designation is definitely worth completing. It will take your practice to the next level of production
Wolff received a BA from Rutgers University and then went on to complete his master’s degree at West Virginian University. Shortly after graduating with his master’s, he was appointed Director of Financial Aid at West Virginia College and University System where he worked from 1981 to 1987.

In November 1987, Wolff made the decision to become an insurance agent and by January 1988 had joined the National Association of Life Underwriters (NALU), and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). During his time with Nationwide, Wolff earned several National Sales Achievement Awards. He completed his LUTCF designation from The American College in 2001. His volunteer work as an LUTC class moderator allowed Wolff to receive waivers for his LUTCF class tuition.

Wolff is an accomplished financial services professional. Since 1999, he has been the LUTC Chair for the NCCAIFA (New Castle County Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) and Regional Director for Delaware since it was merged into The American College. He served on the curriculum development committee in 2000 for The College’s new FA 201: Techniques for Exploring Personal Markets and FA 202: Techniques for Meeting Client Needs courses along with many other regional directors. Wolff also managed the sales force at AIG American General & New York Life prior to becoming a Nationwide agent in April 2004.

In April 2005, The American College working in conjunction with NAIFA, launched the new FSS designation program for financial services representatives and advisors. The program provides professionals new to the financial services industry with practical sales skills and introductory-level technical knowledge. For experienced advisors, the courses offer insights into exploring new markets, retaining clients and competing for market share. “The designation is definitely worth completing. It will take your practice to the next level of production,” said Wolff.

“I’m really excited about the proactive changes The College has made. The American College is absolutely in-tune with the marketplace and the necessary designations required for a successful practice,” said Wolff. “It was like I wrote it myself.”

Wolff expressed his thoughts on the completion of his FSS designation, “Initially I didn’t even realize I was the first to finish the program! I am extremely ecstatic; to be the first at anything in this industry is rare, and I have to say that I am proud. I would like to give a special thank you to Arlene Evans, Association Marketing Coordinator for The American College for organizing the certification,” said Wolff appreciatively.

The American College is the nation’s leading non-profit educator of professionals in the insurance and financial services industry. Located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, The College is a public charity founded in 1927 and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The American College offers an array of specialized designation programs, Master of Science degrees in several disciplines and customized continuing education
