about the Nobel Peace Prize and the Nobel Laureates, and get a full orientation to the PeaceJam curriculum. They will have a voice in choosing which Nobel Laureate we bring to the Northeast for the program year starting in September, 2006 – an important decision, since high school-aged PeaceJam participants spend a weekend at a Northeast Youth Conference with the Laureate that they having been studying.
Adults will learn about how to start and run a successful PeaceJam program for their school or youth-serving organization.
This is a milestone year for PeaceJam and with it comes a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for high school-aged students. The 10th Annual PeaceJam Conference will take place at the University of Denver from September 15-17, 2006. NextGen Leaders will bring a delegation from the Northeast to that conference, where they will meet with PeaceJammers from around the world and twelve of the Nobel Peace Laureates involved in the program (the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Betty Williams, Mairead Corrigan Maguire, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Oscar Arias, Rigoberta Menchu Tum, Jose Ramos Horta, Carlos Belo, Jody Williams, Shirin Ebadi and Wangari Maathai).
Students and adults interested in attending the PeaceJam Northeast Kickoff should visit www.NextGenLeaders.org for more information and to download youth and adult registration forms.
