Manali

Manali, on the Beas River Valley is an important hill station in the Himalayan mountains of Himachal Pradesh. There are two parts to Manali; New Manali is on the banks of the Beas River and Old Manali lies east of Manalsu Nullah, which in its present form is more of a hippy enclave. This city is also known as the “ Valley of Gods ” as it is linked to a few Indian mythological tales. This once quiet village has been transformed into a bustling town with an assortment of hotels and restaurants. This popular tourist destination accounts for nearly a quarter of all tourist arrivals in Himachal. It is famous for adventure sports right from skiing, hiking and mountaineering to paragliding, rafting, trekking and mountain biking. Manali is also known for its shiny gompas or Buddhist Monasteries. All in all, it sports hot springs , spectacular religious shrines and temples and strenuous adventures in the surrounding mountains. Many trekkers and foreigners follow the hashish trail to Manali. The charas here is supposed to be the best in India and the weather here is beautiful for those who seek solace from the hot summers in the plains. There are also many places around Manali that catch the eye and interest of the tourist. Well connected by road through National Highway 21 from Delhi , it is easy to get to with a drive that offers beautiful and serene surroundings. Manali; the perfect summer getaway!
