seniors to select 2600 students initially as candidates. After a review process of each candidate's overall achievement and community service record, a group of 550 semifinalists are chosen. Approximately 130 finalist will be chosen from this group of semifinalist in mid May which will have an opportunity to meet the President and a group of dignitaries in Washington DC this summer. To be chosen as a Presidential scholar candidate is one of the highest honors a high school student can achieve.
Kevin E. Verbael is a 17 year old senior at St. Margaret’s Episcopal school in San Juan Capistrano. His parents are Diana Verbael-Larrabee and Dana Larrabee from Oceanside, CA.
Kevin is planning on attending Harvard College next year and is applying to be part of their advanced standing program which enables individuals with sufficient AP placement to graduate in 3 years. He is interested in pursuing a career in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
