NSW enabled the Club to reach the top 3 finalist.
President Susan Kondek and Vice President John Vickery flew down to Melbourne to attend the awards ceremony.
Federal Minister for the Arts and Sport Senator Rod Kemp emphasised the outstanding high quality of the nominees presented for these awards. He also spoke about the importance of the role of volunteers and the grass root clubs, whom he felt made communities. He also expressed that these programs and initiatives encourage and increase participation in sport and will ensure ongoing excellence in sport performance.

Clubs concern about sports safety and the prevention of injury to players had led to the development, implementation and monitoring of reasonable and practical safety initiatives to manage any foreseeable risk of injury to club members. The sports safety manual and risk management procedures provide a solid framework to minimise all safety risks to the public and members.
These documents submitted will be used by other organisations and sporting codes as a demonstration of best practice.
Hazelbrook Soccer Club is proud of their achievements in being a finalist in the 2006 Australian Sports Commission Ausport Awards.
