May 25, 2005 -- A new, online learning system for basic electronics is available from the International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET). The system offers students an inexpensive alternative to rising classroom costs. The courses are designed to familiarize student technicians with the information they need to pass the Associate Certified Electronics Technician exam as offered through ISCET. The courses are offered in two different online formats.
Virtual Classroom Format
Students must have an internet connection that is faster than dialup to successfully participate in these classes. They are designed to mimic University classes in the form of
• 2 hour-long classes per week at regularly scheduled hours
• an instructor
• common audio and video through internet feed
• the ability to ask questions of, and receive answers from, the instructor
• a list of recommended study materials (materials available through ISCET)
• cost: under $200 per course
Self Study Format
Students must have an internet connection that is faster than dialup to successfully participate in these classes. They are designed to mimic University format in the form of
• 14 to 16 hour-long classes completed as the student desires
• 48-hour return email support for students’ questions
• 150 day access, at the student’s convenience
• additional access time available for a nominal fee
• a list of recommended study materials (materials available through ISCET)
• cost: under $50 per class
Classes Available Now
Associate Electronics Online Learning Course, Part 1 — Covers DC electronics, as well as study material for the DC electronics portion of the ISCET Associate Level CET (Certified Electronics Technician). Part II available soon!
Telecommunications Online Learning Course, Level 1 — Intended for those whose background is minimal in telecommunications. Students taking Level 1, and then successfully completing the Certified Telecommunications Associate exam are considered to be (CTA-1).
