Butterfly™ offers programs that provide pre-teen and teenaged girls with creative learning experiences.
“Our programs are designed to help break the perpetual cycle of negative self-image and social outcomes. We create an atmosphere that fosters positive cultural identification, encourages self-expression, and promotes a feeling of wholeness and sense of worthiness,” says Niambi Jaha, Founder and CEO of Project Butterfly. “Our flagship curriculum/program, ‘If the Caterpillar Only Knew…’ is a 4-part process of self-discovery and re-birth for female adolescents and teens that is based upon the developmental needs of female youth of African descent. It takes a psycho-cultural approach towards self-development,” she further states.
From its inception, Project Butterfly’s “If the Caterpillar Only Knew…” curriculum has been used to support programs in Chicago Public Elementary and High Schools, social service and private agencies and churches. Over 300 teen girls in the Chicago area alone have experienced their curriculum (in various forms). Project Butterfly has inspired the creation of
