(HFEE), the Banquet of Champions, held on April 28, 2005, a special opportunity was created. Those who want to support HFEE can make a big difference now.
HFEE is a model environmental program that makes an extraordinarily important contribution to the community. Dave Gray, President, has been devoted to making HFEE better and better now for over 20 years. At this point, students from 26 schools in the Sweetwater Union High

district in the US, have participated.
Recently, a young man named “Catfish” and a four-year student of Huck-Fin, was so convinced about the importance of Huck-Fin that he went and made a presentation to the Board of Trustees meeting where a motion to cut the budget of HFEE by half was to be discussed and voted upon. Catfish described why he felt it was so important that Huck-Fin must NOT be subject to such a budget cut and loss funding for the program from which he had benefited over the four years.
Catfish's presentation to the Board has made a difference. No Board member seconded the motion to put the budget cut in place.
What does this mean? The schools and communities in which HFEE operates can all thank Catfish! Additionally, it becomes possible to join in the effort to support both HFEE and Dave Gray. Such additional support can help him EXPAND his excellent program, not cut it!
The schools, including students and their families, and the community at large can all step in to make a difference, just like Catfish. A site on the internet describes the need for support for HFEE: http://ABC4All.net/hfeesupport.htm.
Now anyone interested can support HFEE. A new HFEE program, Community Health, Exercise and Nutrition for All (CHEN4All), about to be introduced in the Fall 2005 into the identified pilot school, Castle Park Middle School, in Chula Vista, California (also part of the Sweetwater Union High School District) represents a mandated response to overwhelming community needs that have not been able to be addressed and that include what is termed, “globesity.” The CHEN4All Pied Piper, http://ABC4All.net/piedpiper.htm, will enchant, entertain, heal and educate in order to elevate the level of health of students, citizens and the community at large.
