, 10 minutes of golden-goal extra time, and 5 penalty kicks. Marnie Rodgers netted the decisive winner for McHugh Crew in front of a full house at Century Gardens Stadium. Perhaps the Cinderella story here was also shared by their opponents, Dixie Dynamo. Having not won a single game all season, Dixie knocked off the first place Sonics in the semi-final and came close to winning it all the following week.

With several INDOOR Championships "in the bag", the Strikers claimed the elusive Division II OUTDOOR Title for the first time in their history. On the strength of 2 goals from division-leading scorer, Jacinta Pierre, the Strikers bettered Blue Bayou, 3 - 2 at Victoria Park. The Championship capped off a fine season for the Strikers that saw them lose only once in 16 contests.

After a brief hiatus from their storied string of Championships, the United Black Devils returned to don the Division I gold medals following a penalty kick shoot out with archrivals, Blue Bombshells. Fans of the team ("Devil Worshippers"???) witnessed a near perfect campaign, in which the Devils went undefeated, drawing only twice in 16 matches. Perhaps even more impressive was the squad's goals against; a miniscule 3. It's hard to imagine any rival ever coming close to these numbers in future seasons.

As the last rays of this endless summer's sunshine fell across the celebrated pitch of Victoria Park Stadium, two unlikely competitors met in the first ever BAS Cup Final. Unlikely, not due to any ineptitude or lack of will, but simply due to the perceived grandeur of the foes "dispersed" along the way. Sur Latino was on no one's tongue when League pundits began voicing opinions about eventual Cup winners in the weeks prior to the tournament. Indeed, in the BAS Summer Contest, when entrants were asked to predict the eventual Cup Champion, not a single respondent chose Sur Latino. Those opinions changed in a flash after Sur Latino handed their Division II adversaries, Samba Squad their first loss in 2005, beating them 2 - 1 in the Cup semi-final. Armada I was also considered to be a heavy underdog at the start of the 5-week-long tourney. Finishing 5th in Division I during the regular season, Armada could only muster 2 combined points in contests against Structform Strikers, Xavier United, The A-Team, and KCM Ambassadors. All of these rivals were left in her wake as the great ship Armada sailed to the Cup Final. In the end, the momentum garnered by Armada in the run up to the Final could not be subdued and the men in the golden uniforms went on to clinch the gold medals, hoist the Cup, and add another chapter to their esteemed history.

Congratulations to you. Not only if you were a Champion or a Top Scorer or a Girl-Of-The-Game. But maybe you scored your first goal or stopped a critical penalty kick. Perhaps you passed on some knowledge gleaned from a BAS Clinic to a son or daughter. Maybe you bought soccer shoes for the first time in your life and now share a passion for the "beautiful game". Or perhaps you simply strengthened some friendships and made some new ones. Congratulations to you all.

With an eager eye on 2006, we wait with bated breath.
